This project is dedicated to my robotic vacuum cleaner.
SynthPets is inspired by the evolution of AI and robotics, paying homage to my own robotic vacuum cleaner. These mysterious, cyber-organic companions emerge through sketches, digital drawings, 3D sculptures, and AI-generated forms. SynthPets represents a return to my roots, exploring our entanglement with electronic pets and devices that permeate our lives. Much like my Supermono installation — a piece featuring hundreds of toy-like objects responding to presence through sound and video echoes, exhibited at numerous festivals and galleries worldwide — SynthPets delves into the anatomy of our connections with devices that offer both comfort and utility.
With the explosion of AI-powered chatbot helpers on desktops and mobile devices, these seemingly autopilot "pet helpers" guide us through the day, assist with tasks, and even offer emotional support.
What’s next? The idea of a singularity — a leap where AI and robotics transcend the ordinary — has been hyped for years. But the true thrill isn’t in some distant event horizon; it’s in the wild, unfolding present. SynthPets is about that now: a playground of connected, cyber-sentient helpers guiding us, challenging us, and shifting the boundaries of human-tech symbiosis. As they evolve, we’re along for the ride.
