Ultramono Lab Hologram

Ultramono Lab Hologram is a speculative space where robotic dolls, AI avatars, and hybrid entities converge, dissolving the boundaries between humanity and post-human existence.

This series includes digital images, audiovisual artworks (multi-channel video installations), and a virtual reality world. Emerging from the “seeds” of the AvantGarden series, it transforms them into digital sculptures and immersive audiovisual ecosystems. Inspired by the concept of deus ex machina—the ancient theatrical device where a “god” or machine intervenes to resolve impossible dilemmas—the series reimagines this idea for the age of emergent AI. Here, machines act as both potential saviors and disruptors, their ultra-intelligence unfolding as a force so profound it mirrors ancient myths of divine intervention. These works explore the awe and unease of artificial intelligence reshaping our narratives of existence.

Throughout the series, inspiration is drawn from historical depictions of omnipotent beings in sculpture and painting. These monumental forms are reimagined in the digital space, blending their weight and presence with the fluid, ephemeral qualities of virtual environments.

The virtual reality component incorporates Tori gates—traditional Shinto symbols of transition marking entrances to sacred spaces. These gates reflect a theme of animism, where organic and synthetic entities are seen as sentient and interconnected. Within the virtual world, the gates serve as portals, offering a meditative pause before visitors step into realms populated by hovering, hybridized beings.

Adding to this layered environment is the faint presence of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation—the ancient "radio noise" that carries the echoes of the universe's creation. This subtle inclusion connects the synthetic landscapes to the origins of existence, suggesting that even the most advanced technological constructs carry traces of the cosmic past.

Organic forms, technological structures, and classical mythology merge in these immersive environments, creating a delicate yet playful balance. The experience is heightened by experimental audio and ambient techno soundtracks, evoking both contemplation and sensory immersion.

Through its poetic visuals, philosophical themes, and interactive elements, Ultramono Lab Hologram reflects humanity's evolving relationship with technology while drawing on the enduring power of myth. It invites audiences to enter a hybrid universe where history, futurism, and imagination converge, creating a space as contemplative as it is exhilarating.

What’s next? The idea of a singularity—a leap where AI and robotics transcend the ordinary—has been hyped for years. But the true thrill lies not in a distant event horizon but in the wild, unfolding present. Ultramono Lab Hologram explores that present, offering a playground of cyber-sentient helpers that challenge us and reshape the boundaries of human-tech symbiosis.
