SUPERMONDO

SUPERMONDO by Tanja Vujinovic
A series of digital collages, paintings, drawings, and multi-channel audiovisual works Production: Tanja Vujinovic / Ultramono, 2025–ongoing

SUPERMONDO is a flamboyant, whimsical, and eclectic multimedia collage—a convergence of everything that has shaped my artistic universe. Iconic objects from my practice are reassembled and recontextualized within the fractal worlds of AvantGarden, my ongoing mega project.

This marks a significant step in my practice as I return to my digital roots. Long before hyperreal 3D worlds, I was immersed in pixel art, 8-bit graphics, and the raw aesthetics of early internet culture—creating vector drawings, animations, and digital collages when personal computers were gateways to infinite new realms. Now, these foundational elements merge with my fascination for high-definition, hyper-polished gaming aesthetics, avatar-driven storytelling, and immersive world-building.

Analyzing my entire body of work, I have distilled its most impactful elements: the enigmatic blue liquid, pictograms, perfumes, alien heads, idols, and toy-like sculptural forms, alongside documentary images from my VR events in VRChat, Second Life, and Sansar—featuring my avatar and the avatars of countless visitors. These compositions function as digital time capsules, evoking nostalgia while simultaneously evolving through contemporary internet subcultures and meme-driven aesthetics.

Echoing retro-futuristic interfaces, pixel art nostalgia, and early vaporwave dreamscapes, SUPERMONDO is both a journey through past and present explorations and an expansion of my life-long fascination with figurines, idols, dolls, and toys as cultural artifacts. Each element is a time-traveling agent, carrying echoes of its original context while shifting into new dimensions of meaning—inviting us to revisit, remix, and reimagine previously explored territories in the fabric of human experience.
